The IOL Master from Carl Zeiss was the world’s first instrument for the totally non-contact measurement of all data required for the calculation of intraocular lenses. After more than ten years of clinical experience and ongoing product enhancement, the IOLMaster is truly the Gold Standard in biometry.
The IOL Master 5 measures axial length with partial coherence interferometry (PCI), along with corneal curvature, anterior chamber depth and, optionally, white-to-white. Every measurement is taken without contact.
Two advantages of the IOL Master are improved efficiency and a smaller equipment footprint in your office. All biometric measurements can be obtained with a single system. Without the need to relocate the patient, you can measure all parameters required for IOL power calculation, including axial length, corneal radii, white-to-white distance, and anterior chamber depth. IOL Master 5 vs. IOL Master 500
The IOL Master 5 is the earlier of the two Zeiss PCI biometers. The IOLMaster 500 followed it and also measures with partial coherence interferometry. Zeiss’s swept-source biometer is a different system, the IOLMaster 700.
