Used Zeiss IOL Master 5: Swept-Source OCT Biometer
The rapid evolution of IOL technology promises superior outcomes in cataract surgery, and it necessarily raises the bar for pre-operative biometry. The IOL Master from Carl Zeiss set the standard for highly accurate, precise measurements of all ocular characteristics necessary for IOL power calculations. The IOL Master from Carl Zeiss was the world’s first instrument for the totally non-contact measurement of all data required for the calculation of intraocular lenses. After more than ten years of clinical experience and ongoing product enhancement, the IOLMaster is truly the Gold Standard in biometry.
At Insight Eye Equipment, we guarantee each pre-owned unit is fully-refurbished and provided with warranty. Click the “Add to Quote” button below to begin building your quote and never hesitate to reach out!
Description
What It Does
The rapid evolution of IOL technology promises superior outcomes in cataract surgery, and it necessarily raises the bar for pre-operative biometry.
The IOL Master 5 uses swept-source OCT technology to measure all parameters needed for IOL power calculation. Unlike the IOL Master 500, it measures through dense cataracts and opaque media where partial coherence interferometry fails. All measurements, axial length, corneal curvature, anterior chamber depth, white-to-white, and pupil diameter, are captured without contact.
Two advantages of the IOL Master are improved efficiency and a smaller equipment footprint in your office. All biometric measurements can be obtained with a single system. Without the need to relocate the patient, you can measure all parameters required for IOL power calculation, including axial length, corneal radii, white-to-white distance, and anterior chamber depth. Results are available immediately.

IOL Master 5 vs. IOL Master 500
The IOL Master 5 replaced the 500 model in 2014. Key difference is that the 5 uses SS-OCT for axial length measurement and succeeds in eyes with dense cataracts or posterior subcapsular opacities. The 500 uses partial coherence interferometry (PCI) and fails in roughly 5-8% of cataract cases. For high-volume surgical practices, the 5 reduces measurement failures significantly.
